Thomas Cunich wins Louis Vuitton Junior Trophy
Junior sailors competed in the lagoon just off the Dubai International Marine Club today as Louis Vuitton Trophy sailors and their Arab counterparts joined to race 60-foot dhows further offshore.
The juniors raced in high performance O'Pen Bic board boats for the Louis Vuitton Junior Trophy.
There was more than silverware at stake. The winner, Thomas Cunich, will sail as 18th man on one of the two boats contesting the finals on Saturday, November 27.
Cunich, 12-years old, from Australia, beat Oscar Lindley Smith who took second place and Oliver Hill, who was third.
The first placed girl sailor was Hannah Froud. She was fifth overall. Ben Jagtiani and James Taylor, both eight years old, with identical birthdays, were the youngest sailors to compete.
