Italian O'pen Cup-final stages finish in the heat!

June 2008 : With hot temperatures and sun, summer had definitely arrived in Italy for the 3rd and 4th stages of the Italian O'pen Cup held during the month of June at the Compagnia della Vela de Silvi Marina and the Lega Navale de Ostia (Rome).

The wind remained light and the racing was based on the O'pen Cross and Speed events so successfully used in the earlier events. Le Mans style beach starts allowed the participants to get a charging start before using all their skills picked up in sailing courses to keep their boats in front. A fun attitude, technique and skill were the key ingredients required to be successful in these last races.

With at least 20 competitors at each event, it is clear that the O'pen BIC is developing quickly in Italy and the clubs equipping themselves with the boat are attracted by the alternative event atmosphere.
And the highlight of the season is still to come, with the Euro'pen Cup being held on the pretty Lac d'Iseo, Sulzano, 29-31 August 2008.

The O'pen BIC... for ENERGIZED sailing!
